Future Members

Our group is an interdisciplinary team composed of individuals from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and related disciplines. Postdoctoral researchers, graduate, and undergraduate students are welcome to join our group.

Postdoctoral Scholars

Although we are not currently looking for a new postdoc, positions do become available from time to time. Postdoctoral scholars in our group perform cutting-edge molecular dynamics simulations of protein-nucleic acid complexes, travel to national scientific conferences, and mentor students in the lab.  Candidates should be enthusiastic, hardworking, and have good communication skills.  The ability to work with and train others is essential, as is a strong publication history.  Experience with computational simulations, including, but not limited to, molecular dynamics, Monte Carlo, and quantum mechanical methods, is required, as is a Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, or a related field.  Experience with enhanced sampling, free energy calculations, Bayesian statistics, or coarse-grain simulations is also highly desirable.  Interested applicants should send a letter of interest and a CV to Prof. Jeff Wereszczynski.

PHD Students

Ph.D. opportunities are available for current Illinois Tech students.  Students should have strong academic backgrounds, preferably with previous research experience.   Student’s academic background may be in physics, chemistry, biology, or a related discipline.  Previous computational research is preferred but not required.  Interested applicants should contact Prof. Jeff Wereszczynski.

Students that are not currently enrolled at Illinois Tech but that are interested in applying should contact Prof. Jeff Wereszczynski with a letter of interest and a CV.

Undergraduate Research Assistants

Opportunities for undergraduate research are often available as either a semester-based or summer research project.  In general, students should have a strong academic record in physics, chemistry, biology, or a related discipline and be in either their sophomore or junior year. Interested students should contact Prof. Jeff Wereszczynski with a letter of interest and a copy of their unofficial Illinois Tech transcript.
